Handbills of Hate

On temporary display, Protest: Handbills of Hate explores the 1991 events surrounding hateful messages appearing on Bainbridge. From initial discovery of the leaflets to the resulting community protests, this pop-up exhibit addresses the importance of community in the face of attempts to divide neighbors and friends.

“We do not support or tolerate racism. We support the rights of all people to live safely, without fear that those with different skin tones or beliefs will harm them.”

— Bainbridge Review Editorial, September 4, 1991
